Roller Blinds

Roller Blinds are not only the most common blind found in Australian homes but also commonly used in bedrooms. With a wide choice of fabrics and colours available, the Roller Blind offers an unobtrusive solution that rolls up on a small roll at the top of the window. Whilst a Blockout Roller Blind is a great way to blockout majority of sunlight and street lights, due to the design of the Roller Blind, there are gap down either side of the fabric at approximately 30mm. This means that light can still enter the bedroom. For those installing Roller Blinds in the bedroom however want to remove those light gaps, a cassette and side channels can also be installed to completely blockout the light down either size of the fabric and any light from entering through the top of the roll.

Day Night Window Treatments

For bedrooms, meeting different lighting requirement throughout the day is essential and this is where combining different window treatments can be a good idea. Combining a blockout window treatment with a sheer window treatment, commonly called ‘Day and Night’ window treatments, allows you to control light all throughout the day. There are a few different ways to create a day and night combination. Below are the most common day and night window treatment combinations.

Day Night Roller Blinds

The Day Night Roller Blind is a flexible dual blind option, as you can operate the two blinds independently. Commonly the Day Night Roller Blind has one blockout fabric and one sunscreen fabric. This will allow you to filter the sunlight during the day and protect your furniture from UV rays and at night, blockout any street lights and that early morning sun.

Day Night Honeycomb Blinds

Day Night Honeycomb Blinds are essentially two blinds in one. With a sheer fabric combined with a light filter or blockout fabric, the Day Night Honeycomb Blind allows you to control light and privacy by simply moving the middle rail with either cord or cordless operation. The Honeycomb Blind offers superior insulating properties, and this helps to regulate bedroom temperatures not only throughout the day but all throughout the year.

Blinds and Curtains

Combining blinds and curtains in a bedroom is not only a great way to control the level of light and privacy in a space, but also a great way to create an aesthetically pleasing environment. Commonly a Sheer Curtain is mounted on the outside of the window frame or to the ceiling to help create a soft, light and airy atmosphere and commonly used throughout the day to filter sunlight, whilst a Blockout Blind such as a Roller Blind, Roman Blind or Honeycomb Blind is mounted on the inside of the window frame. This is commonly used at night time to blockout that morning sun and also throughout the day for privacy.
