Choose to Reveal Fit or Face Fit
What is Reveal Fit
- Reveal Fit: Mounting of the Shutter is done inside the reveal of the window frame. Most products will have a recommended depth, for your product to mount fully within the reveal, this information is on the product-specific page. If recommended depth is an issue select the face fit option.
What is Face Fit
- Face Fit: Mounting of the Shutter is done on the outside of the window reveal, and is usually mounted on the window frame architrave. You can add more width to overlap your architrave, in line with the aesthetic look you wish to achieve.
Measure Reveal Fit - Installing inside the window frame
- Width: Measure the inside of the window frame from left to right in 3 different places and use the smallest measurement.
- Height: Measure the inside of the window frame from top to bottom in 3 different places and use the smallest measurement.
- Depth required: You’ll also need to check the measurement from the window or window handles to the front of the window frame, to ensure there is enough room for the shutters to operate freely. See table below.
- IMPORTANT: We take deductions so the shutters fit neatly inside your window frame.
Measure Reveal Fit - Depth required inside the window frame
- Depth required: You also need to check the measurement from the window or window handles to the front of the window frame, to ensure there is enough room for the shutter to operate freely.
- Refer: to the below sizes required for the specific blade size. 45mm depth for 76 mm blades or 50mm depth for 89mm blades.
- If recommended reveal depth is an issue, select the face fit option.
Measure Reveal Fit - Checking the diagonal measurement
- Diagonal: Only relevant if you reveal fit, measure from the bottom left corner to the top right corner and compare this to the measurement from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. If the measurements vary over 5mm, your window is out of square and this will affect whether your panels will fit into the window frame. Please discuss this with a product specialist after placing your order so we can make adjustments.
Measure Face Fit - Installing outside the window frame
- Width: For Face Fit, we recommend measuring from the outside edge of the architrave to the outside edge of the architrave. For windows without an architrave, we recommend the shutters overlap the window by at least 50mm on each edge, so add 100mm total to both the width & height hard measurements.
- Height: Measure the exact height of the area you would like the shutters or shutters and frame to cover. We recommend the shutters overlap the window by at least 50mm on each edge. If you have an architrave we recommend measuring from outside of architrave to outside of architrave.
- Note: The shutters will be supplied at the exact sizes you provide.
