Veneta cares about your family’s safety!
Loose blind cords and chains within reach of children can be fatal. By their very nature cords or chains used to operate blinds (and curtains) are very strong and if they become wrapped around a child’s neck “they will not break” and can result in strangulation. Veneta understands the importance of selling child safe blind products but it is important for all our customers to recognise the potential danger presented by loose blind cords and how to install your blinds so they are safe for the whole family and comply with Australian safety regulations.
Veneta have a number of inherently child safe blind products that have no exposed cords. We highly recommend these for children’s bedrooms and playrooms. Our blinds that are operated by exposed cords are fitted with a number of safety devices that greatly minimises the risk of strangulation.
Some of these devices like the child safety guides and cleats are fitted during installation and must be mounted out of your child’s reach (min height of 1.6m from the floor). These safety devices also rely on the home owner’s vigilance to ensure the blind cords and chains are “ALWAYS” secured around or through these devices.

5 Quick Child Safety Tips
Take these five simple steps to ensure that blind cords/chains in your home are out of reach of children, particularly children under 6 years of age:
1. Check all blind and curtain cords - both at home and when away on holidays. Make sure they are out of reach of children.
2. Make all loose blind and curtain cords/chains safe. Install and always use the Veneta cord/chain cleats/guides supplied with your new blinds, keeping enough tension on the blind cords or chain so a child’s head can’t fit through them or form a loop 220mm or more. |
3. Move all furniture away from windows especially beds, cots, tables and chairs - keeping children away from all secured or normally out of reach blinds cords and chains. |
4. Read all the Veneta warning labels supplied on our blinds and curtains and the packaging and don’t remove the warning tags after installation. |
5. Keep an eye out for the logo on the left to choose from Veneta’s child safe blinds which don’t have exposed cords or chains. |
