How to Clean Venetian Blinds

Venetian Blinds are admired for being stylish and timeless window decorations. Their excellent light control and unique design lend themselves greatly to their popularity. However, their designs can appear to be sophisticated, and leave you overwhelmed as to where to even start when trying to clean these blinds.

It’s a lot easier than you think! We’ll be walking you through the easiest way to clean venetian blinds which won’t even require you to remove them from the frame.

Which Venetian Blinds You Have?

One of the biggest considerations which will change the way you approach cleaning your custom venetian blinds is the material in which it is made of. At Veneta Blinds, our offering of venetian blinds online are available in Timber, PVC, and Aluminium variations.

How To Clean Timber Venetian Blinds

Our Timber Venetian Blinds are handcrafted from lightweight Phoenixwood. This beautiful hardwood contributes to creating a warm and natural look in any room. Here’s what you can do to keep them looking their best:

  • Dusting
  • Use a soft cloth or a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dust. Avoid using water, as extended exposure to moisture can warp the wood.

  • Polishing
  • Occasionally, you can use a wood polish to enhance the shine and protect the timber. Apply the polish to a cloth and gently rub it over the slats.

  • Stain Removal
  • For stubborn stains, use a damp cloth with a mild wood cleaner. Wipe the area and dry immediately to prevent moisture damage.

How To Clean PVC Venetian Blinds

PVC Venetian Blinds are highly durable. Their resistance to moisture makes them a more suitable option than their wooden counterparts in spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. This is what you’ll need to do to keep them in pristine condition.

  • Dusting
  • Use a microfiber cloth or vacuum to remove dust from the slats.

  • Washing
  • You can wash PVC blinds with a mixture of water and mild detergent. Use a sponge or cloth to clean the slats, then rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.

  • Mould & Grease
  • In case of mould or grease, especially in humid areas, use a solution of water and vinegar. Wipe down the slats and ensure they are completely dry to prevent further mould growth.

How To Clean Aluminium Venetian Blinds

Our range of Aluminium Venetian Blinds come with 180° tilt control. This allows closed slats to align which mimics a single surface, allowing for greater privacy and easy cleaning.

  • Dusting
  • Use a soft cloth, feather duster, or vacuum cleaner to remove dust and detritus accrued on the slats.

  • Washing
  • Mix water with a small amount of dish soap. Use a sponge or cloth to clean each slat, then rinse with clean water. Make sure to dry the slats to prevent water spots.

  • Stain Removal
  • For tougher stains, a mild all-purpose cleaner can be used. Apply the cleaner to a cloth and gently rub the stains.
